I survived Chapter 27 of Jane Eyre
What a chapter!
"May your eyes never shed such stormy, scalding, heart-wrung tears as poured from mine."
I need a minute to digest this. I stayed up all night reading this book.
Where is she going to go?
Dear reader, I have cried like that. What an explanation of that experience.
But to have her experiences after that chapter, I had been empathized into her story;
And then she ...

The Call of the Wild
Reading the short novella in wildlife biology.
I'm planning 7 lessons through December. We will read the chapter, discuss. Answer quesitons and move on.
The best lesson is the NEA Robert Redford audio
UPDATE:
We are up to Chapter 2. The first chapter had them rivited. OF course the technology didn't work so I had to print the chapters. I think it's nice to have the chapter. They ran off lame so a few words were faded, but we listened to the library audio as we read along. Then they answered questions about Buck turning wild. Reupdate update Post script Chapter 3 was so good. Absolutely amazing. The fight between Buck and Spitz.

We read the text together.
I read the sections from the text and told them the page numbers. NEED to add blank diagrams to label for students to look at figures/diagrams. Include questions from the chapters that have graphs/data analysis and work through them as a class. I'm going to have to implement AVID strategies with the textbook and then have them read the sections again at home. and watch the videos for homework. Lecture isn't working, and we ALWAYS have fun with the labs and activities. I scared them again today with 3 mega packets, the reading guide, the POGIL, and the Case Study on Graves Disease "Just Stress". We read sections 32.1 and 32.2 with reading guide. Did Model 1 of the POGIL and then created figures from the text with various manipulative toys and photographed and sent to padlet. And we took the ring of roots quiz 15. It's time to add to the ring with vocab?
Practice the 2weekly quiz on Friday with an FRQ.
Math Monday: Data Nuggets and our own data analysis from lab. Pre-lab for Wednesday Lab. Memorize Monday
Textbook Tuesday and Thursday: AVID reading strategies, sticky notes, Highlight reading guides, diagrams from Holtclaw reading guides 9 edition.
Lab Wednesday: Really, do the labs! FRQ Friday
Coming Attractions and Reading Guide Schedule: 35.1 and 35.2 Immunity, Immunity HHMI, Cells/Players, Immune System finish disease project from HASPI and do the contamination lab demo during the cell signaling taste lab.
Need to buy supplies for TASTE lab : Packets salt, sugar, equal, broccoli, m$ms, smartees, apple cider vinegar, lemons MID Term grades were posted about 20 minutes ago. They will change after tomorrow's classes and activities in Biology.

Stuck between a rock and an endocrine signal.
I decided in the middle of reading chapter 6 to begin the metabolism unit. I almost wanted to die. Of boredom. And chemical equations. And I realized so will my AP students. Wait til spring for the respiration stuff. I am obsesses with cell signaling.
so I spent office hours rescheduling the photosynthesis christmas to the cell signaling systems in plants and animals unit. We now jump from chapter 5 to chapter 32. Hormones and the endocrine system.
In biology I am trudging though at an AP pace with Photo/Resp with props and cut out models. So, II'm thinging next time they have to make a stop motion of respiration. But, the only thing I can find is vague for AP Bio and I need to come up with storyboards for them I think.
But, they have the probs, stop motion animate the Carbons in the Photo/Resp system.
Stop motion animate glycolysis
So, they did the cut n paste n model n snap n post, today so I'm thinking that Friday they could attempt the glycolysis stop motion. ?? Why??? So they photo/resp cycle with Carbons???
Why?? Well... because we can then do it with Mitosis. ....
And in Wildlife
the Time Passes activity from GWGM 3 is the best lesson I've ever taught, followed by a serendipitous timing of thanksgiving and the showing of Dances with Wolves and the Journal response activity. Un-positive response from students on this assignment on the first day turn in. Like, maybe, like, some kids did the journal write correctly. But with growth mindset they can resubmit their journal entries. Perhaps write more than one sentence in a 2 paragraph rubric, then we can mind to grow and set match.
We are adding wolves to our counties tomorrow. It will be exciting.
